It’s almost Independence Day, and there are a number of ways and places to celebrate on the Westside. Because of the extensive construction going on at West L.A. College, the city of Culver City is not holding its annual Fourth of July fireworks show, but there are still plenty of great options near 11724:
A Full Day of Fun + Fireworks: Don’t miss this popular Westside event. People come from all over and spend the day enjoying the Marina, leading up to the fireworks display at 9 pm. Pro tip: Head to Burton Chace Park or Fisherman’s Village for synchronized music. You’ll also have a great view from Fisherman’s Village, Tony P’s Dockside Grill, High Rooftop Lounge, or from a Hornblower Cruise.
Let’s Take a Selfie: Snap a selfie under the Venice Sign all day—which will be lit up in red, white and blue—and post to social using #VeniceSign and #VeniceBeachFun.
July 4th Mr. & Ms. Muscle Beach (9 am–4 pm): Watch hundreds of athletes lining the iconic stage at Muscle Beach Gym in categories including bodybuilding, physique, bikini, vintage, and more.
Independence Day Celebration at Santa Monica College (Tuesday, June 25, 5–10 pm): The city’s fireworks take place several days before July 4. This “star-spangled salute” includes entertainment and exhibits all day, capped by a spectacular fireworks display.
13th Annual Fourth of July Parade (July 4, 9:30 am–noon, Main Street): The 13th annual Santa Monica 4th of July Parade brings out tons of families and revelers, plus musicians and civic groups. The route starts at Pico Boulevard on Main Street and ends on the sand.
